Located west of Bradgate, this large deck girder bridge crosses the W. Fork Des Moines River.
Built in 1902, the bridge has been extended at least once. While two of the spans date to 1902, two more date to 1917. A fifth span, added on the east end, did not appear in a valuation survey. However, it seems likely that this fifth span was also built in 1917.
Currently, the bridge consists of five deck girder spans, set onto stone and concrete substructures. This structure is typical for this route and the Iowa Division. The bridge has since become part of the Three Rivers Trail.
Overall, the bridge appears to be in excellent condition. The mystery of the fifth span cannot be solved, although the concrete abutments appear to largely be similar.
The author has ranked this bridge as being locally significant, due to the common design.
